Q: Hi guys! Could you please tell us a little about the Chupamobile founders’ background and how you all got into iPhone app development?
A: Hi guys, I’m Stefano Argiolas here along with Paolo De Santis, friend and co-founder of Chupamobile.

Why should mobile users download my app? Does my app respond to a need? This is mandatory, especially for a utility app.
2) What will the user’s experience be like?
It’s really important that users feel comfortable when they use your application. Think well about the structure of your app. Too many steps/clicks for the user to achieve the desired result is very bad practice.
3) How will you market your app?
Think about who your target is and how you can maximize your chances to speak to them.
If you know how to answer all of these questions, it means most of the hard work is done.
Q: Now that there are about 900,000 apps on the app store, do you think that the market has matured to the extent that the odds of doing well have diminished significantly?
A: A large number of apps will lead to constant improvement in App quality. That is a really good thing for consumers, but makes success for developers even harder. More than 60% of Devs earn less than $500/month with their apps. In the US, a recent study shows that 50 percent of app revenues are shared between just 25 Development Agencies/Indie Devs.
With such a competitive market, the sense of timing is essential.
You should find the easiest and fastest way possible to develop your application in order to reduce the time to market. A really cool concept today may not be so “interesting” only 3 months later. You should be one of the first players to approach the niche you’ve identified as your main target.
So act fast when you have a good idea, this will increase your odds of success. You will have time to fine-tune your app at a later stage, and this will be even more helpful because you will have the chance to listen to feedback from your customers.

Q: How do you think indie iPhone developers can succeed going forward?
A: Working as an Indie iPhone app developer is not an easy task.
Thinking of a concept outside the box is needed to market potentially successful apps. A good idea gives you the best opportunities and often, the simple ideas are the best ones too. Just think of Instagram, a simple app developed by only 2 developers. The concept is very easy, Instagram helps people to become (almost) professional photographers. Everyone knows how this story ended – an amazing acquisition from Facebook!
Start from a simple concept and think big, that’s it.
Once you’ve thought about what you are going to develop, start working on your business model.
